About the Author

M. L. Platt was born in Ottawa, Canada, where she continues to live and write. From an early age, she developed a deep appreciation for history, storytelling, and the arts—interests that would later shape her literary voice.

She pursued studies in psychology at the University of Ottawa, a field that reflects her enduring interest in human emotion and inner life. Alongside her academic path, she cultivated a passion for miniature artistry, a discipline that refined her attention to detail and atmosphere.

During the isolation of the pandemic, M. L. Platt began transforming her long-held imaginative worlds into fiction. This creative journey led to Victorian Short Stories: Alesther House, where she invites readers into the quiet tensions, emotional depth, and domestic worlds of Victorian England.

Through her writing, she explores timeless human experiences—love, loss, resilience, and hope—within richly imagined historical settings that encourage readers to step into another era.
